Le Lot & Tourism
Le lot is one the region with the lowest population in France and is named after the river « Le lot » which runs through it. Puy-l' Évêque is situated in the Lot Valley.
The department of Le Lot (a french territorial division), offers a multiplicity of landscapes and sceneries with wonderful sites such as Rocamadour, Saint Cirq Lapopie, Le Gouffre de Padirac (a breathtaking sinkhole), The Valentré Bridge in Cahors etc... Puy-l' Évêque, situated 3 km from the gîtes, is one of the most visited sites of the department, its medieaval village is worth the trip!
The river has allways played a dertimining part in history. At the boat's hold the naval officers would count the barges passing through, transporting the wines on Le Lot from Cahors to Bordeaux. Puy-l' Évêque has therefore a very rewarding economic history.
You will find in Puy-l' Évêque the beautiful Saint-Sauveur's Church, built in the 14th century, a Donjon built in the 13 th century etc... Many activities are available here, such as canoeing, paragliding, cycling, walking etc...
Le lot is very rich in cultural events, especially during the summer where many concerts, town festivals and fireworks take place! Le Lot has its own saying « A surprise to each step! »...
Puy-l' Évêque has all the charms and attractions you'll need to spend great holydays. There are many shops in the village and you can find about 20 restaurants hereabouts. And don't miss out the food market on tuesday mornings on the village's place! All these choices will offer you great moments of pleasure!
More informations about Le Lot and restaurants will be made available to you inside the gîte...
